Who We Are

Alridha Foundation is an independent charitable organisation that runs projects and events relating to community programs, education, research, advocacy, charitable aid, and heritage preservation. The Foundation through its projects emphasises the growing need of peaceful coexistence, religious and racial tolerance. As part of a multicultural, ethnic, and religious world, it aims to highlight the commonalities between communities, thus leading to increased tolerance and understanding.
The organisation has its headquarters in London, relies on self-funding projects, community support and donations to assist with our operating financial requirements. Alridha Foundation is a registered charity and welcomes any financial support to its projects including donations that can be added to the Gift Aid scheme (Charity Registration No. 1142811).
Since 2013, the Foundation has held Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and sends delegations to important conferences at the headquarters in New York throughout the year.

How We Help

Relief and Aid Work

Financial aid and relief is a vital part of the foundation's work throughout the world; specifically in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, London and others.

Advocacy

We regularly participate in international conferences and meetings throughout the year, advocating for human rights in all corners of the world.

Youth Work

We established Alridha Youth as part of our national youth initiative to expand and reach out to the young people of our community.

What We Do

Alridha School has been set up for children to learn and extend their knowledge on religion, and also aims to improve their Arabic language. The school welcomes students from different backgrounds and ethnicity. The classes start from reception, going all the way to year seven and are for both boys and girls. The aims of the school are to motivate and assist students to progress academically as well as encourage them to strengthen their Islamic spirituality.

The Alridha Foundation Research Arm was established in July 2007 to bring the Shi’a Hawza tradition and the Western academic tradition closer to each other as well as to foster greater understanding of Islam. It aims to produce research on traditional and contemporary issues specifically from Shi’a perspective and promote a better understanding of the Shi’a faith, its people and heritage in academia and society.

The foundation regularly participates and organises conferences and meetings at the UN office in New York and Geneva. In addition to this advocacy work on human rights abuses against the Shi’a and others are pursued in Washington D.C., USA and London, UK. The foundation has a Consultative Status with the Economical and Social Council of the United Nations and sends delegations to important conferences at headquarters in New York and Geneva throughout the year.

Financial aid and relief is a vital part of the foundation’s work throughout the world; specifically in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, London and others. In Iraq we are currently working in various cities such as Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala to provide financial support to poor individuals and families. We support Ramadan essentials, housing for the homeless, orphans. disabled, general aid and widows.
